This subject is a study of logic as it was taught and studied by Islamic theologians as well as modern logic. The study of logic assists students in developing consistency in their thoughts and arguments. It assists them in constructing clear, consistent and valid arguments. It also equips them with the tools necessary to analyze arguments of others and judge their validity or invalidity. The study of Aristotelian logic, which was used by Muslim theologians is a necessary prerequisite in accessing higher level texts in scholastic theology and legal theory. This is because many theologians used this form of logic and its terminology in constructing their arguments and developing their points.
