Intermediate Level Islamic and Arabic Studies

Program Description

The Intermediate Level Islamic and Arabic studies program is designed for students who have already attained a foundational education in Arabic and Islamic studies. This Program will further our students’ understanding and knowledge of Arabic, Islamic Theology, Islamic legal theory, Hadith sciences and more. All the texts covered in the program will be in the Arabic language, while the medium of instruction will be English. For any questions please contact admissions@madinainstitute.com

Overview of Courses

Arabic Sciences II

  • This course is Intermediate level study of Arabic Grammar (Nahw). The course will be held once a week and will be taught by Shaykh Amienoellah who brings a wealth of knowledge of the Arabic language and teaching experience. 
  • When: Starting October 7th, 33-35 weeks, every Thursday, 11:15 am to 1:15 pm
  • Course fee: $200

Arabic Sciences III

  • This course is a study of Arabic Rhetoric (Balagha). The text studies for this course is al-Balagha al-Wadiha. The course will be held once a week and will be taught by Shaykh Amienoellah who brings a wealth of knowledge of the Arabic language and teaching experience. 
  • When: Starting October 7th, 33-35 weeks, every Thursday, 11:15 am to 1:15 pm
  • Course fee: $200

Arabic Reader II

  • This course is designed to assist students in developing their competency in reading comprehension by covering selections from various traditional Hadith commentaries and Tafasir. Students will practice reading these texts without harakat and translating them while understanding the various grammatical rules at play with the instructor. 
  • When: Starting October 7th, 33-35 weeks, every Thursday, 11:15 am to 1:15 pm

Scholastic Theology IV

  • This is an Intermediate level course in Scholastic Theology. This course is a cover to cover  study of the commentary of Imam al-Sawi and the famous Ash’ari primer, Jawharat al-Tawhid. The prerequisite for applying for this course to have successfully studied a primer in Ash’ari Aqidah (Sanusi Creed or an equivalent), Maturidi Aqidah (Nasafi Creed or an equivalent), Masail al-Ikhtilaf Bain al-Ashairah wal-Maturidiyyah.
  • When: Starting October 7th, 27-30 weeks, every Monday and Thursday, 4 pm to 6 pm
  • Course fee: $450

Legal Theory II

  • This is an intermediate level course in Usul al-Fiqh. This course is a cover to cover study of Lubb al-Usul, the legal theory text written by Shaykh al-Islam Zakariyyah al-Ansari along with its commentary. The prerequisite for this course is to have successfully studied al-Waraqat and a Hanafi primer such as Mukhtasar al-Manar or an equivalent text. 
  • When: Starting Feb 7th, 20-22 weeks, every Mon and Wed from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm
  • Course fee: $350

Hadith Sciences II

  • This is an intermediate level course in Hadith Sciences. This course is a cover to cover study of Nuzhat al-Nadhar, the commentary of Nukhbat al-Fikr written by Imam Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani. The prerequisite for this course is to have successfully studied Nukhbat al Fikr.

Islamic Law - Hanafi II

  • This course is a study of Islamic interpersonal law (mu'amalat) in accordance with the Hanafi school of jurisprudence. This course is a study of the Mu’amalat section from Mukhtasar al Quduri. The prerequisite for joining this course is to have successfully studied the Ibadat portion of Mukhtasar al-Quduri or an equivalent Hanafi Ibadat text.
  • When: Starting October 5th, 33-35 weeks, every Tuesday and Thursday, 11:15 am to 1:15 pm 
  • Course fee: 350

Islamic Law - Shafi’i II

  • This course is a study of Islamic interpersonal law as understood by the Shafi’i school of jurisprudence. This course is a study of the Mu’amalat section from al-Ghayah wa-Taqrib. The prerequisite for joining this course is to have successfully studied the Ibadat portion of al-Ghayah wal-Taqrib.
  • When: Starting Oct 6th, 15-17 weeks, every Mon and Wed from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm
  • Course fee: $300
